Your name is merely a tool to be used to conduct, deal and interact in this world. But our illusion is such that we begin to believe this identity to be our truth. We are anonymous and have no name. The truth within us neither has a form nor a description; neither any limit nor any boundary. We are vast, indescribable. Our being is infinite but we define our limits by binding ourselves to a name. When we are in sleep we tend to forget our name. Imagine, if sleep can erase the remembrance of our identity including our name, what can we say about death and the number of births and rebirths and the numerous names we have acquired in each birth. Have they not vanished like streaks on water? And still we continue to fall prey to this illusion birth after birth after birth.
In this world you are not the only one who has strayed away from his path. All of us are in a similar state of delusion wandering aimlessly in darkness as if intoxicated and unconscious. On close examination, you will realise that your identity is only a myth not to be found anywhere because you are not a name. This identification was given to you when you were too young, ignorant and unaware. Hearing a name repetitively has made you hypnotic so that you have begun to believe the name to be you. Your unconsciousness is deep, so deep that you are not able to snap out of it. In fact the truth is that you do not wish to snap out of it because it has given you some kind of a solace. You know you are empty within and do not have the courage to face this emptiness. In this world there is no greater pain than to be ignorant of the self, to be a stranger to oneself. But we are not ready to accept our limitations and believe that something outside us is not in tune. Instead of accepting, we constantly ignore our shortcomings and try to escape always believing others to be wrong and imperfect. The moment you have a realization of the truth that you neither have a name nor an identity or address, for the first time your ignorance is shaken and the seed of awareness sprouts within. What else is spirituality other than this process of Self-Realization; the process to light a lamp within so that we can speculate and recognise all that we truly are; to be a witness who is aware, who knows that he is neither the body nor the mind, what to say about a name, caste or religion. Until you become a witness, until the lamp of awareness is lit, until the light of meditation shines within, you will be mechanical and unconscious and will continue to be so moving and working like a machine.
